Reasons to learn martial arts styles and to choose from

Danger lurks on places you least expected it that’s why you should be prepared both physically and mentally all the time. If you want to protect yourself from these bad elements, you must be equipped with the skills to fight them off. By then, you must undergo a martial arts training.

There are several reasons why you should go on martial arts training. One is for fighting purposes. The skills you learn from martial arts come in handy during times when faced in trouble. Sometimes, not all hold-uppers only want your money and material possessions. If you don’t want to get yourself killed, you should at least fight them off. In training, you will be taught how to turn the attacker’s force back to themselves. It shouldn’t be you who would be aggressive.

Another thing learned in martial arts training is discipline. One area where you will gain discipline is your diet. In order to move easier, you have to stay fit and follow a strict diet. You will also be taught that martial arts should be used not to start violence but prevent it. Also, martial arts are a way of releasing stress.

Once you enroll for martial art lessons, you also get to socialize even more. Activities in these trainings are always done with a group or a partner. The trainings are also to make your character stronger. Such traits you will acquire are patience and humility.

There are numerous martial arts styles you can choose from but here is a list of the top ten. First among them, this is also the most famous and common is Taekwondo. This martial art style originated from South Korea. Its fighting style makes use the fists and legs, but kicking is more dominant.

Martial arts do not only make you violent, you can learn them even in a relaxed manner. This is what Tai Chi Chuan aims for. This martial art is also executed for meditation. Another martial art from China is Wushu. This is a combination of numerous Chinese martial arts.

If you’re a big fan of Paul Phoenix of Tekken, the martial art he’s executing is Judo. This martial art style is more grappling. If you’ve noticed, Paul is more and grappling and throwing the opponent once he already has hold of them. Judo is more on throwing.

Japan also owns their moves. From them came karate. This fighting style strikes its enemies through punching, kicking, elbow striking, grappling, throwing, and knife-hands. However, it focuses mainly on hand movements.

Also from Japan is Kendo. This fighting style is executed usually with a sword because this is the fighting style that samurais used. However today, instead of a real sword, kendo practitioners make use of shinai.

Whatever you choose from these martial arts styles, all practitioners must bear in mind that it should only be used for emergency and defense situations. Learning martial arts must not be the source of violence but must be an instrument to halt it.
